End of life care
The UK end of life care research interest group (eolcRIG) was launched by NCRI in 2012, and is now managed by Marie Curie. Its members all recognise the need for research to provide the evidence base to underpin care of people at the end of life and to improve the experience of death and dying for individuals, carers and families.
The group has more than 25 member organisations who have all signed up to a joint statement of intent. Full members are research funders who operate one or more competitive peer reviewed funding streams which welcome high quality proposals in end of life care. Other organisations with an interest in end of life care, and who endorse the joint statement, join as Associate members.
The group is currently working together to share experiences, develop mechanisms for joint working and collaboration and consider the priorities for research in end of life care.
A number of UK eolcRIG members are working together to define the research priorities in palliative and end of life care. For more information on the Palliative and end of life care Priority Setting Partnership (PeolcPSP) see the PeolcPSP website.
