Slide set on steps to a successful trial launch

Dr Emma Hall, Deputy Director (Research), Institute of Cancer Research Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit and co-Chair of NCRI CTRad Workstream 3, presented on the steps to a successful trial launch at the NCRI CTRad proposals guidance meeting in May.

The NCRI CTRad proposals guidance meetings take place up to twice a year and are an opportunity for investigators who have ideas for radiotherapy studies to present their proposals for open discussion and feedback from a group of CTRad experts and consumer members. The meetings are also an opportunity to share knowledge with peers.

Using the HYBRID trial as a case study – a multicentre phase II radiotherapy trial which itself was discussed at a CTRad proposals guidance meeting in 2010, and has subsequently been launched and recruited its first patient in May 2014 –  Emma talked through the steps involved once the trial had been funded; from developing the trial protocol right through to recruiting the first patient. Her full presentation can be viewed at the link below.
