Initiatives to support cancer research

Part of NCRI’s role is to identify barriers to research, or areas where research is not thriving in the way that we would expect.

Sometimes these areas of need are revealed by analysis of NCRI’s funding database, or information from Partners. Other times this intelligence may come from approaches to NCRI by researchers, patients or organisations. NCRI’s Board of Trustees and Partners consider the opportunity for collective action, and often a subset of interested Partners will work together on finding a solution.

The nature of our initiatives varies widely – from one-off data analyses or workshops, to running large working groups with dedicated staff and researcher time. Considering each issue on an individual basis allows us to design a solution appropriate to the problem, and to draw in specialist expertise where needed to supplement our core resources.
