This multidisciplinary NCRI/RCS event to shape the future of surgical trials was led by Mr Stephen Price. We welcomed surgical consultants, trainees, patients, methodologists, trial unit staff and funders to this interactive workshop.

The workshop provided guidance on introducing new technologies into surgical practice. Key topics included:

  • The IDEAL Framework
  • Introducing and incentivising surgeons to evaluate new technologies
  • Regulation of medical devices
  • Parallel sessions on Early Phase Surgical Trials and Robotics in Surgical Oncology
