NCRI Newsletter | March 2020
Date published: Mar 30 2020
The NCRI’s purpose to improve health and quality of life by accelerating progress in cancer-related research through collaboration continues to be vitally important, even at this time of uncertainty. We are adapting to these changing circumstances in order to continue to bring the cancer research community together to support our mission. The NCRI team is working to ensure meetings can go ahead in virtual formats while ensuring they are as productive and accessible as possible. We aim to strike the right balance between keeping up momentum in key areas whilst remaining mindful of the significant challenges that the community is currently facing.
We are acutely aware of the implications of this pandemic on NHS staff and the concerns around patients and carers’ safety and well-being. Along with many others, we are working with the NHS Cancer Programme to contribute to and disseminate the guidelines and advice for cancer patients. We are also looking at working with the NCRI Consumer Forum to assess the impact this is having on patients involved in research trials.
In this NCRI newsletter, we would like to take the opportunity to remain connected with our networks and to offer support and information to the cancer research community during this challenging time.
